Sourdough Questions

Can you freeze sourdough?

Yes! You can freeze your sourdough 3-4 days after it's been baked. This not only reduces waste but allows you to enjoy sourdough whenever you like.

What does sourdough taste like?

While all of our sourdough bakes have different flavours, the natural fermentation in the starter gives each one a subtly tangy, slightly sour taste.

How do you store sourdough?

There are a few ways to store sourdough. For optimum freshness, we'd recommend storing your sourdough in a cotton bread bag or large tea towel in a cool place. This allows the bread to breathe and helps it maintain a good moisture level.

After 3-4 days, you can store your sourdough in the freezer. This option is great for toasting your bread while keeping its taste and texture.

Is sourdough vegan?

Yes, sourdough is suitable for vegans. The four main ingredients of sourdough are starter, flour, salt and water. However, you will see all of our ingredients clearly labelled as well as the benefits of each.

Is sourdough healthier than other bread?

Many experts say that the fermentation process makes sourdough bread more nutritious. This is because fermentation creates probiotic bacteria, which is known to improve gut health.

A healthy gut has been linked to a strong immune system, improved mood, heart health, better sleep, brain health as well as preventing some cancers and autoimmune diseases, so it's worth making your gut happy!
