Four Bakery is not just a bread shop, it's a revolution.
Whilst most of us happily fill ourselves with food every day without even thinking about reading the label Four offers customers an antidote to the fast-paced and processed produce of modern life.
It won’t be a surprise that we have four key values that are intrinsic to the ethos, and recipes, that we serve.
The main inspiration for our name derives from the French word for ‘oven' and every day you will discover a fresh batch of four core offerings – loaves, viennoiseries, savouries and brownies but the significance of the name goes deeper than that. Four reaffirms that you don’t need much to create something really beautiful. Most of our products contain just four simple quality ingredients plus lots and lots of love. We definitely subscribe to the old adage that ‘less is more'.
With a background in finance, Four founder Simon is not one to overlook the small print and is on a mission to make people aware of the hidden preservatives and additives in all foods, especially flour. Four is a place where people can be educated, inspired and enjoy the health benefits of authentic sourdough. We are proud to be members of the Real Bread Campaign which is on a mission to find and share ways to make bread better for us, better for our communities and better for the planet.
Look out for our in-house workshops and masterclasses with Ellen, our Head Baker and Chocolatière when you will get the chance to learn how to bake your very own sourdough bread or how to make your very own chocolate creations.
From the moment you walk into the bakery you can feel the sense of community. As soon as we could we knocked down the wall between the shop and the kitchen to break down as many barriers between our produce and the people that visit us. Customers can now easily watch our expert Pastry Chef de Partie and bakers in action and ask them any questions they may have.
We aim to be as inclusive as possible and offer a broad selection of bakes that cater for as many dietary requirements as possible. All of our bread is vegan-friendly and we also offer vegan and gluten-friendly sweet treats too!
At Four we recognise the importance of giving back to the community and we work hard to help people having a tougher time than most of us. Not only do we provide Macmillan Cancer Support with free bread on a daily basis, we also actively support and donate to Stand Up to Cancer. Any bread that is left over at the end of the day is donated to Jersey Hospital and to the Family Nursing and Home Care.
We genuinely love what we do. That’s why we get up before dawn five days a week so that you can enjoy truly authentic sweet and savoury sourdough, fresh out of the oven.
We love to share our success and we happily give away our carefully prepared sourdough starter for free to anyone who wishes to create their own sourdough bake from home. Just bring in your own jam jar and we will fill it!
At Four we also love to support the success of others. In the shop you will discover produce from other local companies especially those that align with our key values.
We hope you also will love what we have created at Four Bakery and we hope you will join us in our revolution to make bread real again.
